I wear short shorts! Okay, so since middle school I wanted some little tweed shorts. (I know that is a hella long time ago!) Gracing the pages in Teen Vogue back then, there were always elegant waif-like models in tweed shorts, at least that is how I recall it. I just think they are so pretty and feminine and it was love at first sight, I swear. I loved how fancy and chic these shorts look. They aren’t just your everyday blue jean shorts, they can be dressed up or dressed down. This is because they aren’t super short! I love flexible clothing items that can go from casual to formal like this! It is hard to find extra small clothes for my petite frame at Forever 21, but last time I went there, lo and behold, size XS tweed shorts were right there at my eye line. I was so excited to find a pair of tweed shorts in my size after all these years, I kept looking at the tag to make sure they were actually my fit. Finally I got them, and they aren’t just your average brown or grey tweed, they are white and black tweed. I can’t wait to wear them casually with a band shirt or formally with a cute button down shirt. Eeeep, I have it all planned out!
Exfoliation should be part of your regular weekly regiment. I exfoliate my skin all year long. It makes my skin feel soft and smooth and I like the glow it creates. I exfoliate all over in the shower, every other day. Now that’s it’s summer, it’s super important to exfoliate your skin. This is crucial especially if you’re like me and lay out in the sun, this is because the sun slows the natural rate you sloth off skin. If dead skin cells stay on your skin, it creates a rough, dull look and it can cause breakouts and dryness. I know too many people who skip out on this important beauty step because they simply have not been educated on the matter (bless their hearts.) I promise that it will make you break out less, make your skin bright, and you will feel soft to the touch!
What products to use: Well, I really like the Morning Burst products by Clean and Clear and Neutrogena’s Pink Grapefruit scrub. They are usually oil free, they have a lot of little beads to create the perfect gritty texture, and they smell very tropical! Some exfoliants don’t have enough beads so they don’t feel like they actually work. I also don’t like the ones that have a cold or tingly sensation because I think that feels uncomfortable.
P.S: You can use the facial scrubs on the rest of your body because if you compare the label on the body scrubs, they use the same ingredients!
Here are my favorite scrubs that I use:
I am one of the only girls I know who is really into wearing lipstick for some reason. I like to wear it whenever I go out because a nice lip shade brightens up one’s face immensely. A couple months ago I discovered Revlon Color Stay lipstick and I really like it’s consistency and how long it actually stays in place. I ate a cupcake and this stuff stayed on my lips!! I was working at my internship from 8am till noon one day and discovered that this lip color had stayed on the whole morning!! I always line my lips first, put on a little bit of a lip stain marker, then put this lipstick on. The key is to coat on about three layers of this stuff on. After it dries a bit, put on some lip gloss in the center of your pout so that your lips appear fuller than they really are. This will make your big red lips look sultry and flirty. Make sure not to rub your lips together or lick them much or the color will come off much quicker. It doesn’t dry out your lips and it doesn’t feel heavy. The only thing that is funky about it is that it smells a bit like chemicals. If you are interested in this product, I recommend the shade 315 Juicy Plum, it’s the one I use of course!
I just graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Wow, saying it feels good but it still has not quite hit me yet. I majored in Parks and Recreation Management with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation! (Basically what I will be doing is rehabilitation through leisure activities.)
I was pretty excited about decorating my cap for the big day. Above is what I came up with. I made it simple with my initials at the top and yellow puffy paint spelling out “Spartan” because that is our mascot! I made sure to wear my dark blue pearls to match the navy robe as well. Since it was kind of breezy outside I had to wear my black leather boots to keep my feet warm, everyone complimented them though since most people had on high heels that they couldn’t even walk in, which was tacky. I wore heeled boots that had walked across that campus many times, it was a genuine good-bye. Oh well, I have my BS degree now.
What’s next?! What’s next on this road we call life?! *Cue dramatic music* =p
It has been a while since I have gotten my nails did since I have been so busy lately, so I finally went today and changed that. I figured I would go with a gold champagne color since my college graduation is coming up and the colors of my university are blue and gold. I am usually not big on school spirit, but this is a once in a lifetime event, so I can at least subtly show my pride, right? My high school friend, who also attended UNCG and already graduated, was there at the nail salon! She got some zebra print incorporated into her nails, which inspired me to get something a little unique as well. I got acrylic leopard print painted on my annulary fingers to spruce things up a bit. I also have stickers that are orange and white sparkly butterflies with tiny flowers on my thumb nails. I really like the attention to detail with this look! I can’t wait to show them off in my UNCG graduation photos. =p
My hair color, which I recently dyed brown, was fading a bit so I got some new shampoo. This shampoo is from Victoria’s Secret and it’s supposed to help keep dyed hair looking vivid and new. However, I can not tell that it has helped keep my color at all. Every time I wash my hair it seems to get lighter in color. The only nice thing I can say about this product is that is smells very nice and the scent lasts until the next time you shower again. The scent reminds me of the fragrance Sexy Little Things by Victoria’s Secret. Next time I dye my hair though I will try to find a shampoo that will really make the color brighter and long lasting!
