act

My dentist recommended this stuff to me like three or four years ago. It doesn’t have alcohol in it so it doesn’t burn or hurt which is important for a product you use every day. It helps keep enamel strong and prevents cavities. It comes in two flavors, but this blue one is my favorite. The other one is more of a spearmint taste.

While on the topic of teeth, I think using harsh teeth whiting products in your twenties is a joke. We are too young to have bad teeth. You will never get that enamel back, so it’s really an unwise decision to whiten your teeth, striping them of their strength. You can’t get that back!! Maybe a natural alternative like lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide. Nothing with a lot of chemicals though.

I have a thing for candles. You should know that by now if you’re an avid reader of this blog! Haha. I recently have tried out some new candles that have wood wicks instead of the normal rope-like wicks.

You may be asking, what’s up with wood wicks? Well, they are just like any other candle for the most part. However, I think they are more cozy and homey than your typical candle. While they burn, they crackle and pop like a real fire does. This makes them very soothing and comforting. It’s like being beside a miniature fireplace. How cute.

I wish all candles made crackling noises while they’re lit, it is a pretty cool feature. I am really a fan of this kind of candle, you should try one too and tell me what you think.

I wore this out the other night. The blue plaid is by Vintage 1955, the jeggings are Bull Head, and the knee high, pointy-toed boots are by Forever 21.

My hair stylist curled my hair so I had to photo it closer!

How to: Burn A Candle

burning candles, candles, how to, tinfoil

It may sound dumb, but there is a right way to burn candles. Oftentimes candles burn lopsided, eating up the candle faster and wasting wax.

There is a simple fix for this though. First, get out some tinfoil. Next, wrap it around the outside of the candle like the photo below. Finally, be patient and wait a few hours.

candleinfoil

Make sure it is wrapped around it good, you can tuck the edges of the tinfoil in towards the middle of the candle so that it hangs on the lip of the glass well. Leave the candle burning for three of four hours for this trick to work. Don’t leave the candle alone though of course, you don’t want it to catch something on fire or explode or something else scary. lol.

You will see that the tinfoil has done its magic when all the hot melted wax is an even plane across the top.

Why does this work?
The tinfoil acts as a heat conductor. It spreads the heat of the flame out to the edges of the candle so that all the wax burns evenly.

That’s pretty much all, but it’s hard to explain it. If there are questions, comment! =p

How to: Hydrate Yo Face

My dermatologist recommended this facial lotion to me a few months ago. She said that I should stop using the ones that contain salicylic acid because it is too harsh. I love this new stuff, it has no scent and never burns like my old moisturizer did. I got the one made for combination skin because even though my skin is oily it also gets really dry too at the same time. This is the last thing I put on my face before my makeup goes on and it’s the last thing to go on my face at bedtime.

This is polish by The Color Workshop. I have had it a long time but never used it till recently. It’s kind of thin and light in color so I had to apply many layers. I probably did 4 or 5 layers of this stuff so it took forever. It was laid on so thick that I had trouble not nicking it on things. I like this color though because it goes with any outfit since it is a neutral hue.

I got this bag a few years back on the interweb, but it’s definitely a standout to for me. Not only is the baby pink stunning, it’s also a super soft leather that I love to pet. The amber beading reminds me of Native American culture and being in Cherokee, NC at the Indian reserve for many childhood vacations. The inside of this purse is so spacious, that I actually lost an ipod in it for like a year!! It has many compartments, even hidden ones, that’s how I lost the ipod. Lol. Anyways, I thought I’d share this lovely gem with you guys. Tell me what you think!

How to: Hydrate Skin in Winter

cracked skin, dry skin, good skin, how to, hydrate, silky skin, skin, smooth skin, winter

It has been a hectic week because my birthday was the other day!! Now I am finally catching up to a new post. I am sure I will be writing less as the holidays approach. I will try to not slack off though!!

So, we are now in the middle of winter and it sucks, but that doesn’t mean your skin has to suck too.

I’ve found that mixing lotion with aloe vera makes the perfect after shower remedy for skin problems. It is also a good idea to mix these two together if you have sensitive skin or if your skin is irritated from shaving! I really like how this kind of aloe vera by Banana Boat smells so I usually mix it with a non-scented or mildly scented lotion like the Avon oatmeal one below. Oatmeal is also awesome and soothing for your skin as well. After you use this for a while, you should have less razor bumps, less itchy and dry skin, and less red/inflamed skin!!

Tell me what you think. =p Until next time, farewell!!

DIY, do it yourself, how to, ombre

I got this shirt a little over a year ago for free at my college’s Homecoming. It was a really pretty navy blue color and I just wear it went I am lounging around the house since it’s just a tee shirt.

At my internship I had to teach a water aerobics class and I wore this shirt one day in the pool. I didn’t go very deep in the water, so when I came out and let the shirt dry, it was stained by the Chlorine from the bottom up to right under my shoulders! I thought it looked awesome and so I still continue to wear this tee even though the two-toned ombre effect was a total accident!! What a great mistake, I love how it looks.

aging creme, anti-aging, Estee Lauder, review

Hey everyone. Can’t believe it is December, it’s 57 degrees outside which is considerably warm for this time of year. I’m not complaining though!! Anyways, today’s review is on a product by Estée Lauder that helps with aging (supposedly).

533

The first anti-aging serum I purchased was a couple years ago when I was 20. It was by Murad and it was an eye treatment product like the one above. Being this young, it’s hard to really see improvement I think, but it feels nice using these products.

For a few weeks I have been using the Estée Lauder eye creme. I like it because it doesn’t have much of a scent and it feels nice to put on since it is preventative, however I realized after a few days of using it, the skin under my eyes became very irritated. The delicate skin there also burns when I use this stuff, so I decided to cut back on it. I was using it twice a day, but that is ridiculous especially with how sensitive that skin is! I stopped using it for a week or so in order for the skin to heal! Now I just use this product a couple times a week before bed. I might not be very tolerant of this stuff, does anyone have anything to add or any suggestions?
