This is a top I got at Christmas this year. I donned this when we went out on Super bowl Sunday. I did get a few head turns. These pants are rather old but they’re such a statement piece that there’s no way I would part with them! Same with the boots, I have honestly re-bought these ones because they are my all time faves, by A.N.A. They are biker chic, but also dressy and have a high heel – just perfect!
This is the perfect summer look, I am not ready for the cold weather to arrive, and I know it is coming. I’m taking advantage of my skimpy outfits until the real fall weather hits us! This skirt doesn’t look that great in photos cause the stripes blur together but in person it’s totally cute. I got it at Victoria’s Secret a few years ago and I like the thick texture and I usually tuck a shirt into it since it is a little big in the waist area. I could wear it on my hips, but it doesn’t look as cool as the high waist look. High waist is my favorite spot for skirts since it cinches my waist. The neutral little crop top is from Express, it was too adorbs to pass up so I snatched it at the beginning of spring this year.
I figured the green plants would offer a radiant atmosphere, I think I was right! Pretend I am in the tropics!! I’m wearing some jelly bracelets as well, and I can’t remember the eyeliner, but the lips are Posie K I beileve.
I almost always have my hair down, but sometimes it is just too humid during summertime in North Carolina. If I am going out with my bf I will throw my hair up for a change because there is something flirty about an updo, no matter how simple or messy. My grandmother gave me this pretty bun holder a few years ago. I think it is my favorite hair accessory that she has given to me. It is kind of coll that she used to wear it. I secured it in with a few bobby pins.
A few years ago I saw a few Furla purses at a shop beside the local movie theater. I should have gotten one, but I made the mistake of waiting, and by the time I thought about them again, they were long gone from the store! Luckily, this has been a good year for me in the world of fashion, I am reunited with Furla purses! This is my lovely ballet pink crossbody. Take a moment to bask in it’s glory!! The clasp on it is adorable and easy to open, it has that fantastic plastic-y smell, and it is a great size for concerts or a night at the club. Not to mention it is super shiny since it is cousin to the Furla Candy Bag, which I will be posting about later down the road. Stay tuned.
The hype is here. I finally decided to give Kylie Jenner’s matte lip colors a chance. As I stated a few posts back, I am in love with matte color and have divorced my glosses which I used to use religiously. Matte colors are simply more chic, they last way longer, and so they are worth it. So, what do I think of the Kylie Cosmetics brand?
I will say that I like them alright. However, out of all the brands I have tried, like Kat Von D, Tarte, and Too Faced, Kylie Cosmetics might fall into last place. This is because it seems to cake up a little bit, even when applied thinly spread and very carefully, and I have not had this issue with any of the other brands I mentioned. It feels a little too dry, making your lips feel very tight, which I have not experienced with other brands. The other ones I have tried are creamier. I also noticed that it doesn’t stay on as well as the others, after I eat I feel like a lot of it needs to be re-applied, whereas, I do not have to reapply my matte colors by Kat Von D or Tarte.
I have grown up watching the Kardashians and I am very fond of them and their half sister, even though I don’t approve of everything she may do in her life, that is neither here nor there. So I am a bit sad that it doesn’t have the same lasting power or smooth creamy kind of texture that I expected. If I wasn’t such an expert on the other top matte brands, I probably would love her product! I just know too much ab0ut the super great products out there, so it makes it sound harsh when I am discussing her line. It’s def. not the worst makeup product I have tried or anything, I was just a tad disappointed. I will still wear it, and probably learn how to better apply it to make it last how I want it to. Maybe I will find a way to keep it from flaking off.
I’ve tried the colors Posie K and Candy K. The color in these images is Posie K.
My skin is on the oily side of things, so I try to keep my pores as small as possible and cleanse my face twice a day in order to prevent breakouts. I am a fan of the brand AcneFree for washing my face off (they have a good benzol peroxide one), and I use Cetaphil for a oil-free moisturizer. I like to use Epiduo for a toner, and I have heard that Effaclar Duo by La Roche-Posay is a great alternative, and a much cheaper way to keep your skin looking clear. It doesn’t have apadapaline in it, which is what seems to make Epiduo work so great, but it does have LHA and benzol peroxide. I haven’t seen a bad thing about it while researching it online, so I am hoping I turn out loving it.
I have only used it a couple times.. so far, so good! It seems to shrink any bumps, the redness goes away, and the overal appearance of the blemish diminishes, just overnight! That’s exactly how Epiduo works, so I am satisfied thus far. Hopefully it won’t dry out my face, but I am looking to only use it when a large bump appears, or for an emergency, at least until I run totally out of Epiduo.
I have been trying to stay away from coral for years now because orange-y colors don’t think look very flattering with my skin tone. That being said, this coral color from tarte is the prettiest looking shade I have found. It isn’t a crazy bright orange that washes me out. It is actually kind of sheer, with a shimmery glitter to it. It isn’t glossy or super matte, but it’s a very natural hue. I like wearing it to the gym since it’s a subtle shade.
As you can see I was very bored with my hair so I went with a change up! I pushed it back with some gel, the Hard Up blue gel by Sexy Hair, and it laid back over my teased crown fairly well. The tank top is from Express and I love neutral tones so much, and I also love how it is low cut, skin tight, and has vertical ribbing all around! The capri pants were given to me from a co-worker and I wasn’t too keen on them at first because I hadn’t worn capri jeans since I was younger, but they fit really well. I am so cold-natured, I can def. use them when I am out at a restaurant. Actually, the night I wore this I went with family to a pizza place that was freezing, so it worked out. Bracelet is Marc Jacobs, wedges by Coach. Tan by Lancome.
My lipstick is THE MOST TALKED ABOUT THING I WEAR. All of my co-workers and female clients gaze at my new matte lipsticks and ask me where they can purchase them. I will do a post on all of them before too long, stay tuned! I believe this one is L.U.V by Kat Von D.
I fell for these bad boys the moment I saw them online a few years ago. I didn’t stumble upon them in person until the other month at the mall. I was searching through the dimly lit Hot Topic when I came upon these and I knew immediately that they were mine! They call these garters, but I don’t think of them as an under garment, because they are clearly fancy panty hose, if you ask me! And I would never hide them away.
Houndstooth shorts from Forever 21, same with the wedge sneakers, V neck from Victoria’s Secret, sweater by Crown and Ivy.
Everybody wears deodorant.. uh, at least I hope so! For years I used solid deodorant or glide on gel, with antiperspirant, and lately I’ve tried a few new ones.
The first one in the photo above is a powder deodorant that doesn’t include antiperspirant. It is by a brand called Perfect Purity, you can find similar ones at Whole Foods type stores that offer healthy alternatives to our normal hygiene routines. It’s good for straight out of the shower use, especially if you know you aren’t going to be busy or sweating much for a few hours. It’s great after the shower because it doesn’t burn when applied to shaved under-arms, unlike all the other deodorants I’ve tried. It can leave a trail on the floor or dark clothes, so it can be messy if you’re not careful. It’s super light, doesn’t have a strong smell, and isn’t going to last through heavy sweating though so beware.
The second in the photo above is a glide on antiperspirant by Secret. It’s a gel substance and it feels cold to the touch, that is why I enjoy them in the summer, but not as much in the winter. You have to wait a couple minutes for it to dry before putting on clothes, especially dark colored garments. It is better than the solid kind because it doesn’t leave you with flaky white skin or get all over the armpit area in clothes. It’s great for sweating, and the scent is moderate.
The third and final deodorant is in spray form. It’s a new one made by Suave. It has antiperspirant and a nice clean scent, but be careful when spraying it anywhere that offers a breeze or draft, because it will go everywhere. It works just like the glide on deodorant as far as I can tell, you just have to be really sure to spray a few squirts (it takes more than just one or two sprays, I’d say three or four sprays under each arm is perfect if you’re going to be working or sweaty) and also be sure that it goes under your arm and not in a cloudy fog behind you! I guess this is the messiest one, I wouldn’t recommend it to younger kids. Easy to waste it. I kind of feel like I inhale it too, so hold your breath and spray away!
