This Halloween I worked but I decided to go all out with my costume! I wore my septum with a chain, used glitter on my eyes, and drew on face tattoos. I was a gypsy pirate, in case you couldn’t tell.
Like the Tim Burton-esque title? Lol. So do I!
So for Halloween at work, I was a medieval princess, but that costume was made for winter weather (it’s velvet) and since it was 80 degrees here in NC, you bet I changed! As I was in the shower debating what to wear for such a hot Halloween, I suddenly remembered I had my mother’s high school majorette uniform from the 70’s !!! It is pictured above, and although it looks way too short, she assured me it is supposed to be that length (they always wore nude tights underneath I think). The polyester was itchy and a bit stuffy, but I wore it most the night!
As we all know, since we are fashion forward, open-minded bloggers here, black lipstick is NOT just for Halloween, especially with the return of -and mainstream acceptance of- grunge 90’s style. I have been wearing black lips for about a year now and nothing feels quit as liberating. I felt like wearing Kat Von D’s studded black lipstick to give the majorette outfit more of an edge and maybe some irony. I love this hue because it is gun-metal, it has a blue/silvery shine to it that does not wash-out one’s complexion.
Sephora has cool shades of polish. I like to do my own nails so I have quite a few of their colors, and I like all of them. This one is a matte black that has glitter in it as well. If you don’t use a top coat, it is very rough, so be careful not to scratch your eye or pic clothing.
This Halloween I hung out with my boyfriend and watched movies and SouthPark. He said he knew that I would chose to be a cat, I guess I am predictable. Lol. We went to Starbucks so I could try the seasonal Frapula drink which looks like it has blood in it but it’s actually just raspberry drizzled in white chocolate. It was yummy but I liked the Franken frap from last Halloween best.
I didn’t really dress up much since at my work we could only wear something on our heads, so I played it safe with neon pink cat eye makeup, and cat ears that I got at Claire’s forever ago. I would have worn something cooler and more creative if I went out to a party or something. After work I decided to slip on this number. The white stockings are from Spencer’s gift shop, zip up back wire bustier by Victoria’s Secret, mini pencil skirt from PINK section at Victoria’s Secret, and suede wedges by Nine West. Septum from Hot Topic. Urban Decay Electric Palette on eyes. Hope everyone had a spooky Halloween!!
On Halloweeny I had a better time than past years. I have found that most years are over hyped and I end up not doing much. This year was cool though. First, I went to Starbucks to get a Franken-Frappuccino and I had some Ghost Buster themed donuts. The frappucicino was great, it’s chai tea with peppermint, I highly reccommend it! I think you can ask for it any time of year.
I decided to dress up since it had been a few years since I purchased a costume. In fact, this year I didn’t even buy a costume, I just worked with the stuff I have already, and it was last minute. Sometimes things come out better when they aren’t critically planned, and this was one of those times! I decided to be a gothic ragdoll or Annabelle, from the new horror movie simpled called Annabelle. I basically just drew on lashes with eye liner, put black liner in the middle of my lips, and I was ready to go. Then I was ready to go to the movies, where I got to see Annabelle. It was an alright movie, but I was little disappointed that it wasn’t very scary!
Black is a magic and mysterious hue. Did you know that it is the lack of every color?
I love black nail polish, in high school it was always on trend; I wore it all the time! The polish I have on in the above photos is Rock N Black by Maybelline Salon Expert. I like the glimmering glitter that is in this polish, it makes it look more sleek than just matte color. Black is edgy, so the glitter and shine are the feminine part of this polish. I decided to sport these chic black nails for Halloween.
Happy Halloween everyone!! Hope you have a spooky time, eat a lot of candy, and watch a lot of horror for me!!
