This color is amazing! It’s Sally Hansen’s quick dry polish. It does dry fast, it didn’t even feel tacky. It doesn’t even have a bad smell, it’s almost a sweet scent that definitely doesn’t have the typical chemical aroma you associate with polish.
I don’t like the color red, tbh, it’s so bright and bold and obnoxious, often tacky. That’s just how I feel about the color in general, but it’s one of the three colors I wear to work everyday, so I’m getting better aquainted with it, on the daily. I just polished them yesterday, but they’re chipping slightly because I’ve been doing hair all day!
I bought this color like three or four ago for hair school; we had to polish fake nails on a fake hand and we had to use fire cracker red so it would show up well. Everyone at work has thought it’s pretty though, so maybe I’ll use this hue more in the future! At least it’s shiny and matches my work clothes perfectly, oh yes and also my color blind boyfriend can see it, so that’s cool. It’s his favorite color!
Happy Friday the 13th. Hope you’re having a spooktastic day!
So.. I used a ballet pink shade as my base. It was an Ipsy color that I have had for a long time, since hair school! The silver that is on top is one of the OPI crackle tops. I know that the crackle polish didn’t really go over that well, but it is better than the Sally Hansen brand. At least OPI has really good quality, it’s a good texture, never too thin or too thick. You just have to be sure there isn’t a lot of the product on top when you do the overlay of any brand of crackle polishes, or else it is a total failure! Seriously, if you don’t lay it on there just right, and hold your breath while doing so, it won’t crack up at all, and instead looks like normal polish.
Do I recommend purchasing crackle shades with any line of polishes, no, that would be a negative! Spend your money on something that has a prettier finish and doesn’t look like a mistake or old chipped paint!
Like the Tim Burton-esque title? Lol. So do I!
So for Halloween at work, I was a medieval princess, but that costume was made for winter weather (it’s velvet) and since it was 80 degrees here in NC, you bet I changed! As I was in the shower debating what to wear for such a hot Halloween, I suddenly remembered I had my mother’s high school majorette uniform from the 70’s !!! It is pictured above, and although it looks way too short, she assured me it is supposed to be that length (they always wore nude tights underneath I think). The polyester was itchy and a bit stuffy, but I wore it most the night!
As we all know, since we are fashion forward, open-minded bloggers here, black lipstick is NOT just for Halloween, especially with the return of -and mainstream acceptance of- grunge 90’s style. I have been wearing black lips for about a year now and nothing feels quit as liberating. I felt like wearing Kat Von D’s studded black lipstick to give the majorette outfit more of an edge and maybe some irony. I love this hue because it is gun-metal, it has a blue/silvery shine to it that does not wash-out one’s complexion.
Sephora has cool shades of polish. I like to do my own nails so I have quite a few of their colors, and I like all of them. This one is a matte black that has glitter in it as well. If you don’t use a top coat, it is very rough, so be careful not to scratch your eye or pic clothing.
My very dear friend and fellow cosmetologist, Rita, sat down with me to service me to a nice mannicure and polish session. These are OPI colors, but because they have such odd names, I cannot for the life of me remember what these were labeled. I’m sure with a little help from google I could find out , but it’s not that crucial! The accent nail was all my idea, I thought it would make the teal color pop and it added for a quirky touch as well. Tell me what you think!!!!
I got some new polishes at my school in the last couple of weeks and I finally had time to try them out. Of course I love the consistency of the OPI polishes and they have a ton of colors to choose from. The dark blue is called I saw..U saw.. We saw… Warsaw (Yes they all have funny names) and the silver one is simply titled Silver Shatter. I was hesitant to use the crakcle because other brands haven’t lived up to my standards, however, I was pretty pleased by how this turned out. I’m still not a huge fan of the cracked look, but at least this brand actually works how it advertises. The blue went on first, two coats, and then just one thin coat of silver and you can watch as it cracks! It’s kinda cool. I think I’m better at polishing other peoples’ nails now than my own, but oh well. Lol.
This week my friend Michaelle made my hands pretty again! Because I use my hands a lot at school, I decided to get an acrylic overlay so that my natural nails won’t break so easily. On top of the thin layer of acrylic, I got some nude gel polish called Passion by OPI. They turned out very nice and shiny!! I like that they look natural and will match all my clothes. It will also help my nails grow long and be stronger and better protected against all the hair styles I do everyday.
