This one is a keeper. I felt like I took a chance since it’s from CVS and not somewhere like Ulta, but I’m impressed. It’s buttery, lasts a long time, and the matte is soft, not a harsh one. I just wish it didn’t transfer, it does transfer a bit onto cups. Besides that it has a nice color, sweet taste, and smell, and it is of decent quality. The shade doesn’t quite match how it looks in the tube, but it’s close enough.
Ok, so usually I’m not very picky and have good luck with products. However, this will be a more critical post. I spent some time in CVS, looking at all the lipsticks because I was just tired of all the ones I have from home/am running low on lipsticks. So I went with this L’Oreal pro matte finish liquid Les Macarons kind and one of Revlon’s lipsticks, that one I will cover in another post. I should have just waited and ordered nice lippies from Sephora like I usually do.
This color is SUPPOSED to be a pinkish Earth tone but it doesn’t look anything like the bottle shade once you apply it, so that’s annoying. Instead of being more neutral in color or pinkish even, it’s red. It seems even more red in hue when paired with raspberry/burgandy/rouge clothing. I guess it’s okay for work, but I kind of just want to throw it away! What a waste.
BTW, to put it on accurately you must start in the center of the lip, stroke outward to each side, then do the other lip the same. Then make sure NOT to touch your lips together or else it will remain tacky all day and it’s awful, trust me! So yeah, that’s all I needed to make my life more difficult, a finicky lipstick. Smh. Oh yes, and it’s extremely hard to get off, I can only get it removed with coconut oil, and it still won’t all come off. Fun times.
Last year at Christmas my old co-worker gave me a Venus Embrace, which is a reusable, thick, super sharp and precise razor ‘for women’, although they’re no different than a man’s razor. The blades that came with it were big and they had 4 blades, so it was a very smooth shave! The body of the handle was gel, for a comfortable grip.
When I ran out of the blades that came with it, I decided to order some blades on wish. Com because they popped up randomly, and the price was only like 5 bucks or so for 18, 3 blade razor heads that would fit any nice reusable razors you can find. So I decided I couldn’t beat that!!
The blades work fine, but I will say that they are not as sharp as the razor blade heads that you purchase at stores in the USA. I shave twice a week usually, and can use these razor heads 4 weeks on average. That’s not bad considering the price I paid for them. I do wish that I would have ordered ones that were bigger with more blades, because that would ensure a softer, closer shave than just these 3 blade smaller ones. At least they fit and serve their purpose though!
I would repurchase these. I don’t recommend them for people who shave daily though or if you have thick hair, cause they won’t last long. Next time I plan on buying the ones that are bigger and look like what actually come on the Venus razor, cause those cut a lot closer.
I didn’t have time to get my nails done before my cousin’s bridal shower, so I had to think quick. I went to Beauty World (a new one just opened really close to me, I love the selection!!) I found out they have a great variety of nails you can glue on. Some look like gel nails, and some are short, long, pointed, round, you name it!
The brand is KISS and it said they would stay on a week, however that’s very false. Even with the KISS glue, they were already falling off the next day after applying them. My right thumb nail came off two or three times, and a couple other nails came off, but I was extremely careful! I thought they would stay on more securely.
Oh well, at least they look really pretty and as if I got them done. I will use them again for special occasions but I don’t think I’ll purchase any more.
I’m happy that this candle turned out cooler than the deer candle I had reviewed last year. Actually, I never published my review of the deer candle cause I was disappointed at how it burnt, and that the metal Skeleton totally crumbled apart when it was finally revealed!
This one is by Skeleton Candles and they claim to make the best animal candles, on their website. It took maybe six hours to burn all the way to the butt of the bear. After that, I put it in the freezer to get off all the wax, and then I stuck it in the dishwasher to remove all the soot.
Above, I am wearing the Babydoll shade. It is a nice warm nude color that doesn’t wash me out!
I’m so excited with these!! They work just as well as the twenty buck lip colors at Sephora. Seriously, for such an affordable makeup brand, I’m thrilled that these are in the same league as Kylie Cosmetics, Kat Von D, and Jefree Star.
The applicator is great length, perfect width and long enough, and kind of flat. After a couple minutes, it’s totally dry, and stays on as long as you don’t eat something really greasy. Doesn’t flake unless you rub your lips too much before it dries, or apply too much of the product. Make sure your lips are exfoliated well too so it won’t build up funny and crumble, but that goes for any lip stick really.
And in this pic I’m wearing my fave because of the berry undertone, it’s called Embellishment. This was taken after a day of work, see, it stayed in place the whole shift!
I always have the wax burner (from Yankee Candle) hot and ready because my boyfriend’s dogs can be rather stinky. I keep it in the den so that guests (and us!) are smacked with a hint of aroma upon entry. I LOVE anything that smells good cause it instantly makes me feel soothed or relaxed. The Yankee Candle brand of wax doesn’t seem to smell up the house as much as the ones from Walmart! I was surprised that the ones from Walmart drift all the way up into the upstairs bedroom!! BUT, this post is about the wax I got off the interweb…
These wax melts are from Etsy made by Chris Ian Candles. I will say that they smell absolutely wonderful! They DON’T drift all the way upstairs like the Walmart wax, but that is probably because these are made out of soy and not all the synthetic properties that fill up the Walmart ones. I like these 100% soy meltees because they come in really unique scents like pink sugar/cotton candy and coffee!! And it is also nice that they are better to breathe in than the wax that includes so many chemicals.
With all the brands I have tried, I have come to the realization that the wax seems to last forever. I guess that the smell fades away with each use, but I’ve been using some of the wax for over a year now and it still has held a scent. Maybe it depends on what kind of burner you have, like, how hot it gets. IDK!
This stuff works miracles. My hands are always in water at work, cold water, and I deal with a lot of chemicals and hair products which irritate the hell out of my hands. I still like using thick hand creams and lotions, but they don’t heal the same ways salves do. This salve is the consistency of vaseline, it smells just like roses, and you can put it on any dry areas. It can be used as lip balm, rubbed into elbows, or cuticles. It can pretty much be used all over! It takes the redness out of my dry, itchy, red, cracked skin instantly. I put this on upwards of five times a day. C.O. Bigelow is a brand you can find at Bath & Body Works.
A while back I posted Tieks flats as my shoe of the day. You can type that in the search bar and see that if you wanna check it out before you read this! (Also, this is a different pair of Tieks. I will explain that further down. Keep reading.)
I have worn these a while now. In the last post, I put a photo of the red shiny ones. I ended up trading with my mom because we had the wrong sizes! We were unsure which size would fit us how we would like, so we ordered a US 7 and a US 8 just to see what would happen. One night we were sitting around complaining that they hurt our feet, I said something about how her cobalt blue Tieks didn’t hurt my foot at all when I tried them on once and I liked the color better too. Then we got the ingenious idea to swap them out. Immediately we were prancing around the living room and laughing about how comfortable the switch was for the both of us! We couldn’t stop laughing, because it was pretty funny we both felt the same way.
The reason I was unsure which size would be right is because my feet are skinny/long and a half size, and my mom was just as clueless since she has wider/shorter feet and is also a half size. So I am very happy we got lucky and happened to be able to trade out so nonchalantly. The website for Tieks says to order a size down, and that turned out being true for me, however my mom has a more unusual foot I guess, because she fit into the next size up!
****** I will warn everyone: THESE SHOES AREN’T COMFY AT FIRST! After about twenty wears, these are comfy, your arch feels gently supported, but I still can’t wear them for more than 4 or 5 hours before they feel uncomfortable.. Within the first twenty wears, your toes will probably get sore, and your arches will feel the same and you will be really grumpy because most bloggers lie about how these shoes feel.
They aren’t as feel-good or maybe not even as pretty as I expected, but there’s some positives. Like… You can’t feel the ground through them like you can with other flats. The colors are super bright and chic. They look like my ballet shoes from my dancing days. So they are really girly, and I like how flexible they are. You can walk on your tiptoes or flex your foot up, and that is something I haven’t found in any other flat.
Who knows, maybe after I break the leather in even more I will be happier with them. It’s been a few months though and so maybe they just aren’t super compatible for hair stylists or just my feet in general!
So it’s been a little while since I got all of my Jeffree Star lip stuff. I am still really into his brand, I love the look and the feel of his product overall.
What do you think? Pink is so fun, but neutral is so chic!
Top photo, lip color is Queen Supreme, lower photo color is Androgyny.
Let’s get down to it. I really, really love the smooth application of his lipsticks, but I wish that the wand was a little smaller. The tip is made for people with larger lips, so if you have a petite mouth you will have to be very careful as to not smear it every where! Kylie has a better wand I believe, and so does Tarte, and Kat Von D. However I like the fact that his do not peel or flake like Kylie’s seem to do so easily.
You can eat with this on, as long as you are extremely careful about not touching anything greasy or wet to your mouth. That is pretty much how all these brands are. Anything oily or really liquidy is a no-go. Don’t even lick your lips! The best one to eat with is probably Tarte, because it doesn’t flake off and look so horrible, it just subtly rubs a little, and certain days it seems to not even budge because it’s so super creamy. I have had some luck with eating with Kat Von D’s, as long as I am very careful. Really depends on the food. One time I ate a cupcake with Kat Von D’s matte liquid lip stick and none came off!
I love that Jeffree star’s liquid matte colors are vivid and light weight on your lips, they aren’t drying, they aren’t too creamy, or too cracky/flaky/peely, it is a nice in between as long as you keep it dry. The pigments are very true to color unlike Kylie’s have been for me. I wish that I could layer Jeffree’s a little more, because sometimes the pigment looks a bit opaque. And honestly, I could do without the chemically smell his seem to have. All the other brands smell pretty nice to me.
I cannot think of anything else right now. I am very pleased with his colors and the way they go on/ stay on in general. I also have one of his plain lipsticks that comes in the old fashioned lipstick form, and it has glitter in it which looks incredible layered over a velour lipstick. I will have to save that more another post though!!
